What are thread veins?
Thread veins (also called spider veins, broken capillaries or telangiectasias) are often red and angry looking, or can be blue, appearing in single areas or patches resembling tree branches. They sometimes itch and are uncomfortable. Spider veins can be found on the:

How does the Ellipse IPL system work?
The vessels to be treated are close to the surface of the skin. The Ellipse operator guides the visible light to the blood vessels needing treatment. Only light with the correct wavelengths is allowed to reach your skin. A thin layer of gel (similar to that used in ultrasound examinations) is applied to your skin before treatment to ensure the light penetrates effectively.
Blood contains haemoglobin which absorbs the light and converts it into heat; heat destroys the protein in the wall of the thread vein. As a result the veins will gradually, and safely, disappear after treatment.
IPL vs Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is where the vein is injected with a solution to make it get irritated and scar so it cannot carry blood. Tiny thread veins are often too small to treat with sclerotherapy. Larger varicose veins and leg veins are best treated with sclerotherapy or surgical removal. Light Fantastic IPL does not offer these treatments.
IPL is the best solution for thread veins on the face and chest areas. It is more effective and cheaper.
IPL thread vein removal side effects
Side effects are minimal - sometimes temporary redness and mild irritation around the vein treatment site - however this soon subsides after the IPL procedure.
