The
Consultation
When you first visit us at Light Fantastic you will be greeted
by our professional and experienced staff, this visit will be for
a free consultation which is important to assess if the treatment
is going to be effective for individual skin/hair type. (White,
grey and blonde hair has no or very little melanin so treatment
is not very successful, there is now a dye available to combat this
problem.) We would advise clients to leave the hair long enough
for us to be able to assess the thickness and colour so they can
then shave the area themselves at home before their first treatment.
Once treatment has been decided and health has been assessed we
will then do a skin test, at Light Fantastic we will never treat
anyone with IPL until a skin test has been done. (There is a charge
for the skin test but this is refundable on the first treatment).
Hair Removal
We would advise the client to have a course of 3-6 treatments
with 6-8 weeks intervals in between for the best results. The
area to be treated is covered with a thick gel the applicator
is pressed against the skin and in one flash the hair removal
treatment in that area is complete, the applicator is then moved
and the next area is treated, this is repeated until the whole
area needing treatment has been covered. We would have informed
the client at the consultation to avoid sun exposure, including
sun beds, 30 days prior to treatment and 30 days after treatment,
it would be best for the client to avoid sun exposure completely
during treatment if possible. A good indication that the treatment
has been successful can be by the appearance of a red ring around
the follicle or the hair may become loose and be easily removed
with tweezers. Hairs will start to shed/fall out 1-3 weeks after
treatment as the epidermis is renewed. This can be aided by exfoliating
the area.

Skin
Rejuvenation
As with hair removal there will be a consultation and skin test
prior to any skin rejuvenation treatment. A full face treatment
with Ellipse takes less than 20 minutes and the client should
expect to have 1-3 treatments (depending on the amount of skin
damage) before they obtain the desired results.
How Ellipse treatment works
The vessels to be treated are close to the surface of the skin. The Ellipse operator guides the visible light from the flash-lamp to the blood vessels needing treatment. The unique Ellipse system carefully filters this light in two ways to ensure that only light with the correct wavelengths is allowed to reach your skin.
Blood contains hemoglobin that absorbs the light and converts it into heat. This heat destroys the protein in the wall of the thread vein. As a result the veins will gradually, and safely, disappear after treatment.
To ensure optimal light transmission to the blood vessel, a thin layer of gel (similar to that used in ultrasound examinations) is applied to your skin before treatment
