What is IPL?
Intense Pulsed Light ( I.P.L.) is a visible light source which
is attracted to the melanin found in hair.
The light is absorbed into the hair follicle causing a heat reaction
which will destroy the hair.
Why Ellipse Light?
At Light Fantastic IPL we wanted to give the best, most effective
treatment for our clients so after researching and personally testing
some of the big name IPL machines on the market we found Ellipse
Light was the one that met all our expectations. From hair removal
and skin rejuvenation to red thread vein removal the Ellipse Light
proved to have the best results and that's what we want to offer
our clients, a fantastic treatment with fantastic results!
Is it safe?
Because at Light Fantastic we use Ellipse IPL, this makes the treatment
completely safe, the reasons are that Ellipse is 2nd generation
intense pulsed light which utilizes a patented 'dual mode filtering'
system which removes all unnecessary/potentially harmful wavelengths,
also The Ellipse has pre-programmed treatment suggestions for different
hair and skin types. Light Fantastic staff are fully trained and
qualified at the highest level.
How does it differ from other hair removal treatments?
As most women know with waxing, hair needs to be grown before treatment
which isn't always convenient, with IPL the area to be treated must
be shaved (not waxed or plucked) prior to treatment, as the hair
needs to be short for a more successful result. There are also the
endless trips to the salon for waxing where as with IPL the results
are permanent, so although the IPL costs more initially it will
save you much more in the long term. Shaving and depilatory creams
as a form of hair removal can lead to uncomfortable rashes, stubble
and ingrown hairs, with IPL, hair that does grow back is much finer
after each treatment, there are no rashes and IPL will put a stop
to those ugly ingrown hairs. Then there is electrolysis a painful
and slow time consuming process as the needle has to be inserted
into each hair follicle one at a time and is usually charged by
the amount of time taken, which, if it is a larger area costs will
be high and can take years to get results, IPL treats large areas
at one time with usually only 6 treatments needed for excellent
results.
Why does it take more than one treatment?
It is important for our clients to understand why all the hairs
are not treated in one session. This is because there are 3 stages
of hair growth
1. Anagen - growing stage
2. Catagen - transition stage
3. Telogen - resting stage
Hair Removal
Hair can be in any of these stages at any one time, but only the
hair in the Anagen (growth) stage will be successfully treated at
each session. The number of hairs in Anagen phase at any one time
varies from 10-70% depending on the body site; this is why we recommend
6-8 treatments with 6-8 week intervals for maximum results.
SKIN REJUVENATION USING IPL
What is skin rejuvenation ?
The pigmented lesions (age spots) commonly found on the hands and
face, due to excessive sun exposure, is the abnormal production
of melanin which makes it visible on the skin surface. When the
cells containing excess melanin are hit by the light they heat up
and are destroyed.
The goal of the treatment is to remove pigmented lesions as a result
of sun damage and increase the production of collagen to improve
the texture of the skin leaving the client with a younger and fresher
looking face. Although this is a popular treatment for the face
it can be used to treat any other areas of the body.
The treatment
As with hair removal there will be a consultation and skin test
prior to treatment. A full face treatment with Ellipse takes less
than 20 minutes and the client should expect to have 1-3 treatments
(depending on the amount of skin damage) before they obtain the
desired results.
Are there any side effects?
There will be a slight erythema (reddening of the skin) which may
be cooled with an ice pack. The pigmented areas may become slightly
darker approximately 10 minutes after treatment, a good sign the
treatment has been successful. The area will continue to get darker
for a period of 7-10 days and this can easily be covered with make-up.
